Droid’s are coming

Motorola Droid phone is coming end of this month. This phone is going to use Verizon network. This is Android’s flagship product, and the first phone that will pose a significant threat to Apple’s iPhone. The phone is a three-way effort between Motorola, Verizon and Google. It looks a lot like the iPhone, and may even be as thin or thinner than the iPhone 3GS. It also has two key advantages over the iPhone – a slide out physical keyboard, and use of the Verizon network, more

Windows 7 beta is out, not officially. It looks really. I installed it on an old laptop with 1GB RAM. I am also using old wireless card, had to install xp driver for it and it worked. Laptop response time is really good with on board video card. I am going to jump to windows 7 from xp.
update: 3/1/2009
Wireless doesn’t work after Broadcom driver update for Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card, widows update. Had to reboot the laptop 3 times.

iPhone Programming Basics

iCodeBlog is an excellent site for iphone programming tutorial. You need mac hardware to use iphone sdk or you can use your own x86 hardware to create a hackintosh. You can find all the information in InsanelyMac forum. I found Cocoa® Programming for Mac® OS X, Third Edition book to be a great intro to Cocoa. The book is well organized, very readable, and has good examples. After reading this book, you’ll be able to start writing applications in Cocoa.

Microsoft gets some Petabytes

AntiPhorm

Your personal information is a valuable commodity to Phorm and to your ISP. By harvesting the information you divulge every time you surf the internet, BT alone expect to make an additional $170M annually. The increase of data-mining, profiling of you and your surfing habits is a worrying trend, on a global industrial scale. And if they can do it without your legal consent or knowledge, so much the better.
This is just the beginning. There are many similar ambitious commercial and government partnership ’services’ in development, corrupted by the prospect of massive profits. In this climate, protecting your identity and safeguarding the interests of your family is paramount to your security and quality of life. Private companies that disregard your rights and record your personal and detailed online surfing behavior is tantamount to them putting CCTV cameras in every room of your house. It appears we can’t stop your ISP tracking and selling your surfing behavior but one solution could be to make the data they do collect absolutely worthless to their clients. more
