Impressive high ISO performace from Nikon D3
This is a slide show of HIGH ISO images from New Nikon D3 [chinese photoblog]. We can tell from ISO 3200-12800 strong performace of D3 noise control. At ISO 12800 sample, although picture has obvious noise, but overall quality is still very good. It is NR off and by pre-production anyway.Last slide image is a comparison between Nikon D3 and Canon 1D MKIII. Most impressive is how well in these samples Nikon D3 holds shadow colour even at the highest setting. 1D MkIII seems to go “Monet” allready on 3200 and 6400 really is quite “colourful” to say at least. Lens used on the Mk III was the 24-70/2.8L, which is a top-notch optic. The lens on the D3 may have been the 24-85 f/3.5-4.5; those samples were at 85mm, f/4.5 max aperture. This is a nice lens for the price, but not in the same class as the 24-70L. Fortunately, accurate focus isn’t required to compare noise. more
